OCHO RIOS HIGH HAS PERFECT WIN RECORD; YC, FERNCOURT, AND BROWN’S TOWN HUNT OTHER D’CUP INTERZONE SPOT
The Ocho Rios High School DaCosta Cup team continued its perfect win record when it defeated Ferncourt High, of Claremont, 2-1 at Drax Hall, Wednesday, September 24, 2025.

As in their first game, when they lost by the same margin to Ocho Rios, in the home-and-away round, Ferncourt put up a stern fight. At one point, up to well into the second half, the scores were tied at one all before Kaniel Brown broke the deadlock in the 80th minute with what turned out to be the winner. Robert Morris scored the opener for Ocho Rios in the 65th minute before Ferncourt levelled from a melee five minutes later.

Andrew Holland, Chairman of the Sports Committee at Ferncourt, says the team missed numerous easy chances in Wednesday’s match against Ocho Rios. He said they are badly missing their main striker, Ajani Mullings, who is out with an injury. Mr Holland says the team’s main objective is to get to the Interzone round. He gives credit to coach Carlton Aiken and the assistant coach Conneil Brown for bringing out the best in the team, captained by Romain Thomas

Based on performance so far, Ocho Rios is almost sure to top Zone K, with either Ferncourt or York Castle most likely to be the other, although Brown’s Town could have something to say about that.

Mr Holland says his team, most of whose members were retained from the squad last year, is a pretty well-rounded one.
