EVA MYERS GETS TOP NCB BUSINESS AWARD

22

Eva Myers is not only well known for her involvement in community and charitable work, but also she is a serious business woman. Her strong business ethics and commitment to help rebuilding the Jamaican economy has won her the prestigious NCB Nation Builders Women in Business award. Ms Myers is elated at this newest accolade and she believes it is a testament to her hard work and commitment to business, because even when the going got really tough, she stuck to the task and found innovative and new ways to help her product remain competitive and relevant.

Evita’s Italian Restaurant, located along Eden Bowers Road, overlooking Ocho Rios in St. Ann, is the only one of its kind in the resort town and has grown over the years to become the ultimate best little pasta house in Jamaica. “I feel very flattered, surprised and grateful,” she told North Coast Times last Thursday, November 20, shortly after LIME presented her with 12 months free 8mb business Internet service as part of her Women in Business prize.

ABOUT TIME

“It is about time that women get recognized in business for their contribution towards the nation’s health and wealth,” she said. She is happy that the glass ceiling is finally being removed and that more women are being recognized. Ms Myers said she was happy that the contribution of women is finally being given the recognition it deserves and she said that for too long men have been receiving all the accolades but now she said more and more women are coming to the fore. “I am really happy more and more women are being recognized and being successful,” she said her own business is a clear example of a successful business in which a woman is in charge.
