EARLY LOOK AT ST ANN

BELNAVIS SAYS PARISH BATTENED DOWN

Take a look at sections of Main Street, Ocho Rios after 7 a.m. Wednesday

As St Ann prepares for Beryl which remains a category 4 hurricane, Mayor of St Ann’s Bay and Chairman of the St Ann Municipal Corporation (SAMC) Michael Belnavis says the parish is largely battened down against the storm.

The main road, the North Coast Highway, between Ocho Rios and Runaway Bay was empty this morning when the North Cast Times travelled the route shortly after 7. Traffic was almost non-existent and very few pedestrians were about, some at bus stops.  There were only a few taxis and none of the regular route passenger buses. Gas stations were shuttered and pumps were covered.

Speaking to the North Coast Times Wednesday morning just after 7, Mr Belnavis says the Emergency Operating Centre is open in St Ann’s Bay and the shelters are ready.

He sent the following videos at 7 a.m. showing the sea off the coast at Tower Isle, St Mary, and also off the coast near Ocho Rios, St Ann. He’s speaking from Ocho Rios.
