BUSINESSMAN WAS TO BE IN COURT THIS WEEK

A businessman was shot and killed in Bamboo, St Ann, on Saturday night, November 23, 2024.
Dead is 51-year-old Garfield Evering also called “Dwayne” of Hazelwood Bamboo, St. Ann.
Reports are that about 10 o’clock, Saturday night, explosions were heard in the Hazlewood district. Police who were summoned found the body of Mr Evering lying face down in the roadway with gunshot wounds to the head. Seven spent casings were removed from the scene.
Mr Evering was pronounced dead at St Ann’s Bay Hospital.
Police said they had not yet determined a motive for the killing. Reports to the North Coast Times are that Mr Evering was scheduled to appear in court this week. It is reported that the case involved a break-in at his business place – a bar and wholesale in Bamboo – for which charges had been brought against suspects.
Investigations are continuing.
