A man who claimed he was under the influence of alcohol is to pay $40,000 to a woman for allegedly breaking the windshield wiper on her bus and using it to her. Bradley Brown appeared in the St. Ann’s Bay Resident Magistrates court before senior RM Andrea Thomas on Tuesday, February 3, charged with unlawful wounding and malicious destruction of property. He pleaded guilty and is to pay over $40,000 to the complainant, Melody Sinclair- Roberts as compensation. The accused man told the court that he was at a party and had too much to drink. He claimed he didn’t even know what went wrong that night. “Your Honour, I was drunk,” he told the magistrate. The complainant said she wanted $40,000 as compensation as she had to go to the doctor because of a wound she sustained when she was hit with the windshield wiper. She said she also has to replace her bus windshield wiper and that the man should compensate her for her days she could not work and lost income because of the incident. RM Thomas told the accused that he should consider getting help for his alcohol problem. The man was also told by a lawyer in court, on Tuesday, “leave the rum alone because you can’t manage it.”
