The Trelawny police have confirmed that a file was sent to the office of the director of public prosecutions (DPP) on Thursday, August 25.
Sources say that manslaughter could be among the slew of charges that the young driver is expected to face.
Fifty-three-year-old Inspector Gibbs died after he was hit down in front of the Clark’s Town Police Station where he was the sub-officer in charge of the station.
Reports from the Constabulary Communications Unit (CCU) are that at about 4:51 p.m. on Friday, August 19, the inspector was a part of a team conducting Vehicular Check Point (VCP) when he signaled the driver of a burgundy Toyota Corolla motorcar to stop. The driver disobeyed and mowed down the inspector on the side of the road and speed away. The cop was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators located the motorcar hidden in bushes in the Clark’s Town area.

The wounds inflicted to the suspected driver at the Falmouth police lockup were not considered life-threatening.
mg The inmate, Noel Smith, of Trelawny, has since been charged with unlawful wounding and is awaiting his court appearance.
