YOUNG TEAM LOOKS TO BETTER, HAVING LOST ALL 5 MATCHES SO FAR
DISCOVERY BAY, St Ann; Sept 22, 2025
Head Coach for the Discovery Bay High School DaCosta Cup Team, Alberto Singh, is not giving up on his team, though they have suffered five losses from their first five matches in the first round of the competition in group K.
Their worst loss was to high-flying Ocho Rios High 8-0.
The return leg of the competition starts Tuesday, September 23, with their first game at home against York Castle, who beat them 4-1 in the away encounter.

“If I’m being realistic, the rest of the season is not so bright,” says Mr Singh. He said the season is about rebuilding, as they lost nine members of last year’s team.

Discovery Bay High does not have a sixth form (Grades 12 and 13) so the boys leave the institution at the end of Grade 11.
He said inexperience had got the better of the team, and that was not helped by the fact that the squad did not commence training until late May, which was not adequate. Also assisting with the team are assistant coach Delano Stevens and manager Kimone Francis.
“The team is still young. Ninety percent can still play Under 16. So we are rebuilding and getting better every game,” Mr Singh said.
After Tuesday’s match comes the sterner test against Ocho Rios, on Friday.
