REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL SUNDAY EVENING TO FIGHT GANG CONFLICTS, VIOLENCE

The curfews imposed on three areas of St Mary have been extended until Sunday evening, January 19, 2025.
North Coast Times reported Wednesday that 48-hour curfews were clamped on Enfield (Annotto Bay), and Albion Mountain and Free Hill, Port Maria.

In a release Friday afternoon, January 17, the police said the curfews would be extended for an additional 48 hours, from Friday 6 p.m., until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 19.
Police said the “extension is deemed necessary to further address the ongoing gang conflicts and violent incidents that have disrupted public safety and confidence in the affected communities.”
Police said the operations will continue to be carried out with full respect for human rights and in accordance with the law.
The boundaries remain the same.
Residents are reminded to adhere to the curfew guidelines and cooperate fully with the authorities. The JCF will maintain a visible presence throughout the duration of the curfews to ensure public safety.
