CURFEW IN PARRY TOWN AND RICHMOND

SECURITY MEASURE FOLLOWS DOUBLE MURDER IN COMMUNITIES

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; July 7, 2025

Sections of Parry Town, St Ann, and Richmond St Mary are under curfew. People living in the areas told The North Coast Times that this security measure is being imposed for the first time, outside of COVID-19.

The 48-hour curfew took effect Sunday evening, July 6, in sections of Parry Town, Ocho Rios, following a double murder there on Saturday night. Meanwhile, a curfew imposed in Richmond St Mary Friday evening, in the wake of a double murder at a candlelight ceremony, has been extended. Both curfews are set to end Tuesday evening, July 8.

In both cases, there have been reports of planned reprisal violence. Police have moved to head off any such action and to bring calm to the areas.

PARRY TOWN

The curfew in sections of Parry Town comes following the murder of 56-year-old painter, Paul Brooks o/c Matterhorn, and 30-year-old Lemar Lynch o/c Buju, both of Parry Town. They and another man were standing outside of a shop in their community when masked men armed with guns attacked and shot them. They were pronounced dead at hospital and the third man was admitted.

RICHMOND

The curfew in sections of Richmond follows the shooting deaths of ex-soldier Shaquille Harris, also known as “Nick” or “Big Red”, and Tiffany Douse, also known as “Nikki”, a university student, both of St. Catherine. They were shot at a wake Thursday night, July 3, at a wake for a woman killed by her police lover on Wednesday, June 25.
