ACTION AIMS TO RESTORE ORDER, PREVENT REPRISALS

The curfew which was scheduled to end Monday evening in Iterboreale has been extended until Wednesday.
Police said Monday, the curfew initially imposed for 48 hours from Saturday evening at 6, to Monday, February 24, at 6 p.m. has been extended because of ongoing “security concerns.” The extension is for a further 48 hours to end on Wednesday, February 26, at 6 p.m.
The area east of Annotto Bay has experienced several violent incidents in recent months. The most recent was the shooting death of a man in his bed on Sunday morning, February 23, during the curfew period.ST MARY MAN MURDERED IN HIS SLEEP
And on Friday evening, February 21, police shot and killed a man at a candlelight event for the reggae artiste Determine, also in Iterboreale. POLICE KILL MAN AT PARTY FOR ‘DETERMINE’
A police release said: “This extension follows continued gang-related violence in the area, including recent murder and shootings, which have heightened fears among residents. The curfew aims to restore public order and prevent further reprisals.”
Residents within the curfew area are required to remain indoors unless authorized by law enforcement.

CURFEW BOUNDARIES:
The curfew zone is outlined as follows:
Northern Boundary: Extends from the Annotto Bay Library, running eastward approximately 1.6 km to St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, covering the shoreline of Annotto Bay.
Eastern Boundary: Runs southward for about 150 meters from St. Theresa’s Catholic Church to a section of the Gibraltar Housing Scheme.
Southern Boundary: Moves westward for approximately 1.9 km from the Gibraltar Housing Scheme to a section of Gray’s Inn Farm Road.
Western Boundary: Extends northward about 600 meters back to the Annotto Bay Library.
