ST ANN ROAD DEATHS DOUBLE, FATAL CRASHES INCREASE
There were raised eyebrows in St Ann, on Friday morning, April 5, following a crash that left three people seriously injured. Observers said a fatality could easily have occurred in the crash that took place near Bahia Principe resort, Runaway Bay, a regular crash spot.
This came while police are reporting that fatal crashes and fatalities from those collisions are running at roughly twice the rate they were for the comparable period last year.
Senior Superintendent in charge of St Ann Police, Dwight Powell
Said up to this time last year there were seven fatal crashes resulting in seven deaths in St Ann while this year there have been up to Wednesday 11 fatal crashes resulting in 15 road deaths.
Police are still investigating the crash that killed three people and seriously injured two others, including a 22-month-old baby, near Dunn’s River Monday night, April 3.
At the same time, there are still three people in hospital from the fatal crash that killed a woman in Fern Gully, on Easter Sunday.
The latest crash resulted when a Toyota Probox taking passengers to the airport in Montego Bay crashed into a tour bus. The sole occupant of the bus was the driver who was not hurt.
Head of St Ann police, SSP Dwight Powell continues to appeal to motorists to follow the rules of the road. In this audio clip, he also gives details on the triple fatality in the four-vehicle crash Wednesday.
