Police have released two men held in connection with an alleged rape of a 75-year-old woman in Brown’s Town.Head of the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) in St Ann, Sgt M Francis told the North Coast Times that the police are still investigating reports of an incident. She said there was no report to the police of a rape.There were earlier unconfirmed reports that an 18-year-old youth was in custody of St Ann police in connection with an alleged breaking in at a home in Orange Hill and assault of an eldely woman.Police confirmed that two men had been detained but were released as there was no evidence, up to now, of any crime.Checks by The Times indicated that people in the area had accused two young men of a crime in relation to the woman. However, police said they were still investigating the alleged incident but insisted they had no report of rape.A source close to the senior citizen said she had been traumatized by the rumours and stories of people who visited her claiming she had been assaulted.
