The police high command has denied allegations made by MP for St Mary SE, Dr Winston Green, that the Annotto Bay police station has only 17 police officers.

The comment is alleged to have been made by Dr Green on Wednesday, September 14 in response to last week’s triple killing in Annotto Bay.

In a release to the media last week, Dr Green had raised several questions about the security of Annotto Bay and his frustration in dealing with social and economic issues in the seaside town of Annotto Bay.

In a release by the JCF’s information arm, the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), said: “We assure members of communities in and around Annotto Bay that this is not the case, and there are actually 27 police officers stationed in Annotto Bay.”

The release also stated that the presence of these 27 officers is bolstered by a Divisional Operations Support Team that consists of one inspector and five uniformed officers. This support team carries out routine patrols and operational activities in the area, it said.

Additionally, two vehicles have been assigned to the division to aid the police in effectively patrolling the area. Dr Green had said there was only one vehicle at the station and it was on loan.
