COP STILL NOT FOUND: Police not identifying man who jumped into sea

Police are now not identifying as a cop the man who jumped into the sea near Discovery Bay, St Ann, last evening.

The man remains missing.

A police release issued early afternoon Thursday (June 16) said they were continuing search for a man.

Information to the North Coast Times is that the man is a cop based in St James. The Times is withholding his name.

Yesterday evening a police man jumped into the sea after police from Discovery Bay responded to a call that a man had come off the roadway and driven his car into the sea. A Marine Police and JDF Coast Guard search was called off last night and resumed this morning.

The head of police for St Ann, SSP Wayne Cameron visited the area today. He said police were still carrying out occasional searches in the area.

MARINE POLICE CONDUCTS SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION

Police Officers attached to the St. Ann Marine Division and the Jamaica Defence Force Coast Guard are continuing search and rescue operation in the Discovery Bay area following a suspected case of drowning of a man on Wednesday, June 15.

 

The search and rescue operations have been underway since 6:00 p.m., last evening when a motorcar was seen partially submerged in the water. The Police were called to the scene, on the arrival of the lawmen, a man who is believed to be the driver of the car, on seeing drove the car into the water and he ran off into the sea. Efforts to locate him proved futile.

 

The vehicle was retrieved from the water and several police paraphernalia, including a ballistic vest was found.
