POLICEMAN INTERVENED AFTER WOMAN SHOT
A policeman was shot and killed in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann, on Monday evening, April 15. A woman who had been shot earlier in a related incident was in hospital in serious condition.
The North Coast Times has been supplied with his name and rank but will not release it at this time until we are sure his family has been formally advised..
Reports to the North Coast Times are that at about 8:30 the policeman went to the assistance of a woman who had been shot in a domestic dispute. The intervention by the policeman led to a confrontation with the shooter and the lawman was fired on. The policeman was hit not far from the St Ann’s Bay Police headquarters.
The cop was rushed to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital less than a mile away.
Several police personnel from across the parish turned up at the hospital. Leading them was senior Superintendent Dwight Powell who told North Coast Times he was there to support members of the Force. “It’s a sad situation,” SSP Powell said. He said he could not give details at that time about the shooting.
