DEACON DROWNS IN TANK IN HOUSE
Residents of Frazer district near Frank Hall south St Ann, have been left puzzled about why a 47-year-old businessman and farmer took his own life on Sunday, December 8.
Dead is Courtney Peart who operated a grocery shop in the community. Peart was also a church deacon.
Peart is the second man from St Ann to have committed suicide at the weekend, following the death of 58-year-old Winston Dave Pryce, on Friday evening, Dec. 6, 2024.MAN KILLS SELF AFTER CHOPPING SPOUSE, HER CHILDREN
The reason there is so much anxiety and so many are puzzled is that Peart, who lived with his family, seemed to have been doing well financially, with his well-stocked shop, thriving farming business and beautiful four-bedroom house. He was a devoted Christian and deacon. It is also said the family including his three children loved him dearly.
On Sunday morning, according to reports reaching the North Coast Times, things turned tragic. Mr Peart reportedly called two of the children to stand close to a large water tank built in the house. Then he jumped in.
He had put his shirt on in such a way that his arms were restricted, meaning he could not be pulled out or swim out.
Reports are that efforts by family members failed to get him out of the tank.
The report from the police information arm CCN is that family members went to check on him at about 6 a.m. The report said Mr Peart was seen over the tank and then he jumped in.
He was pronounced dead at St Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital.
