CHURCH MEETS ROADBLOCK TO OCHI CRUSADE

SERVICES START SUNDAY EVENING ANYWAY

Members and associates of the Seventh Day Adventist Church community in St Ann are trying to get answers about how an approved tent site in Ocho Rios has been blocked off, hours before their crusade starts Sunday evening, January 14.

Church functionaries and officials who went to the Buckfield playfield in Ocho Rios, earlier on Sunday, January 14 found vehicular access was not possible. Obstacles, some planted or supported by concrete had been erected across the driveway to the tent.

The church officials and members gained access by using other areas and went ahead making preparations for the crusade. However, they were concerned about people attending on Sunday evening.

One church official who declined to be identified for this story said the Crusade was going ahead.

There was no immediate explanation as to why the attempt had been made to lock off entry to the tent site. The Ocho Rios Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church had sought and got approval weeks ago for the tent crusade, letters available to the North Coast Times confirmed.

However, the North Coast Times could not confirm reports that the place was blocked off because there was some issue with the routing of the approval process.
