6 WOUNDED WITH KNIFE, IRON PIPE IN PORT MARIA ATTACK

A three-year-old boy is dead and six people are left wounded following a rampage by a man said to be of unsound mind in Port Maria, St Mary, Wednesday, May 29.
Dead is Aisha Campbell of Pagee, Port Maria.
The age of those wounded ranges from nine to 61.
The man who carried out the attack has been taken into police custody.
Reports are that about 3 p.m. Wednesday, a 33-year-old man said to have been experiencing mental health issues started attacking a group of people at Tucker Circle, Paggee Beach, Port Maria.
The man used a knife and a piece of metal pipe to attack the people, injuring several of them.
A member of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) who is a licensed firearm holder reportedly saw what was happening and fired warning shots while accosting the attacker. The man ceased his action and was held by residents and taken to the nearby Port Maria Police station.
Three-year-old Aisha Campbell was pronounced dead at hospital. The others were treated for multiple injuries to different parts of the body, including the head and face. Some were admitted.
It is not clear what triggered the action of the man now in custody.
The Port Maria Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) is investigating.
