CHEF MCINTOSH PASSES

Well Known Chef Was Industry Leader

Chef Dennis McIntosh passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2023.

The executive chef, known widely across the North Coast in a career spanning more than three decades, had been ailing for some time. He was widely regarded for his culinary and social skills and his love for training those under his supervision.

Following his diagnosis with stage four prostate cancer earlier this year, he showed amazing courage in learning what he could about the disease and in fighting back.

Colleagues of his joined in a celebratory event for him that raised funds for his care in early May.

Moon Palace Foundation and the Culinary Association of Jamaica collaborated in putting on a brunch at the Moon Palace Hotel, Ocho Rios, St Ann, where he was executive chef when it opened in 2016.

Mr McIntosh worked overseas for several years and returned to Jamaica in the 1990s, in a leadership role at several large properties including Boscobel Beach, Ciboney and Ritz Carlton.

In an interview in May, he told the North Coast Times

he thought he made the best decision to stay in Jamaica and get care, enjoying the love and support from his family and close friends.

He leaves his wife Beverly, daughter Chinelle and son Sheldon to celebrate his rich legacy and beautiful memories..
