A man has been charged with murder more than three months after a couple was gunned down at home, near Claremont in St Ann.

Thirty-year-old Keron Gentles, otherwise called ‘Igola’, a farmer of New Ground district in St. Ann is in police lock up for the holidays after being slapped with several charges following a home invasion and double murder in Woodstock district, Claremont in the parish on Thursday, September 15, 2021.

Gentles is charged with two counts of murder, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and wounding with intent.

He has been charged in connection with the deaths of sixty-one-year-old Thelma Nembhard, otherwise called ‘Claire’, of Woodstock district, Claremont in St. Ann, and  Sixty-eight-year-old David Nembhard, otherwise called ‘Lion’, a farmer of the same address.

Reports are that about 5:50 p.m.,  the couple -Thelma and David – was at home when Gentles and another man, both armed with handguns, entered their premises, shot and killed the two, and injured another family member.

At the time of the shooting people in the community were shocked and speculation was that a hit had been ordered on the couple.

The gunmen then escaped. Gentles was officially charged on Friday, December 23. His court date is being finalised.
