CHARGED IN ST ANN COP’S MURDER

POLICE SAY ONE OTHER MAN LIKELY TO BE CHARGED

ST ANN’S BAY, St Ann — May 3, 2024

Police have charged a man with murder in the shooting death of Constable Ricardo Fairclough.

Charged with murder is 29-year-old Oshane Davis, also called Shawn Brown or Kautioni of Bamboo Spring, Ulster Spring, Trelawny. He was also charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition and shooting with intent.

Sources say that there is still one more man likely to be charged with the murder.

(Siraldo Butler — suspect shot and killed)

Siraldo Butler, also known as ‘Siri’ identified as a suspect was shot and killed in Steer Town on Tuesday afternoon, April 16. That’s the day after the policeman was gunned down close to the St Ann’s Bay police station where he was assigned.

Constable Fairclough  of Lewis Housing Scheme, Priory, St Ann, was shot and killed on Monday, April 15 about 8:25 p.m. when he went to the assistance of a vendor who was being attacked by at least two men.

The vendor was shot and wounded taken to hospital and admitted.

Constable Fairclough was pronounced dead at St Ann’s Bay Hospital, less than a mile away.

Police said Davis was transported to St Ann’s Bay by two other men. He went and shot the vendor in her face and upper body. Davis, whilst making his escape, was confronted by Constable Fairclough and a gun battle ensued. He shot Fairclough in his chest. Davis received wounds to his abdomen and left hand.

Davis was taken to the Falmouth Hospital by his cronies where he gave his name as Shawn Brown. Police said Davis  also gave a story saying he was shot by gunmen. He was arrested at the hospital. Davis was charged following an investigation.

Police sources would not give details regarding the third man identified in the crime.
