ST MARY MAN FOUND AT HOME WITH WOUND TO HEAD

A 57-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his elder brother in St Mary.
Charged is 57-year-old labourer Canute Clemmings, otherwise called ‘Elton,’ of Jeffrey Town district, Gayle, St. Mary.
Dead is 71-year-old Dennis Clemmings, otherwise called ‘Lengae.’
Canute has been charged with murder following the death of his brother, whose body was found at their house on Sunday, August 31.
Reports from the Port Maria Police are that the elder Clemmings was last seen on Friday evening, August 29. By Sunday morning, August 31, he had not been seen, so friends went in search of him. At about 6:30 a.m., residents went to the house and saw Canute Clemmings “leaving the house hastily,” police reported.
Upon entering the house, they came upon Dennis lying on his bedroom floor with a wound to the head. The police were alerted and transported the 71-year-old to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation was immediately launched into the matter, and Canute was taken into custody later the same day. He was charged on Thursday, September 4, following a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney.
He is to appear in court on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
