CHAIR AGAIN USED IN BEATING BOY IN ST ANN SCHOOL

5 INVOLVED IN BEATING IN PREP SCHOOL INCIDENT REPORTEDLY VIDEOTAPED, VICTIM  WITHDRAWN, 3 SUSPENDED

OCHO RIOS, St Ann; May 7, 2026

Another St Ann schoolboy has been injured in yet another chair-wielding incident in his classroom, at a preparatory school in the resort town of Ocho Rios.

The incident took place on Monday, May 4, 2006, in the Grade 6 Classroom, not long after the start of school. The students were reportedly unsupervised.

Reports to the North Coast Times are that there was a dispute between two boys during which harsh words were traded. Up to four other students got involved on the side of one boy, delivering blows to the other boy, who was seated at his desk. One of his attackers allegedly lifted a chair and hit the boy over the head.

The incident was reportedly videotaped.

What has alarmed one parent of the boy who was beaten up is that, given recent events in the parish where chairs were used in classroom fights, with deadly effects in one case, and serious injuries in another.

The boy who was beaten at the prep school in Ocho Rios sustained a cut to his lip, bruises to his face, and swellings to his head. He was seen by a private doctor. His parents have pulled him out of school.

The school’s administration has since stepped in, reportedly suspending three boys for their involvement in the incident. Up to mid-day Thursday, May 7, the matter had not been reported to the St Ann police.
