Chad young, late managing director and CEO of IRIE FM and Zip 103 will be buried this week Saturday following a service at the Our Lady Fatima Catholic Church, Ocho Rios, St Ann. The private service will start at 11:00 a.m.With the thanksgiving service of Mr Young, another chapter closes in the history and life of IRIE FM News, the only major national news station located in St Ann. Staff of Zip 103 and Irie FM have been assured of the company’s continued viability and future.
Mr Young died Thursday afternoon, February 27, at his home in Ocho Rios. He was 27.Many in the area and listeners to the stations as well as persons familiar with Grove Broadcasting Company that operates the two stations were shocked by the death, especially because Mr Young was so young and many had not known he had been ailing.Staff at IRIE have spoken of his humility, his self-effacing personality and the fact that he had carried out a seamless transition from the leadership of his father and founder, Karl Young, who died in 2010. IRIE FM remained number one under his leadership. People from all walks of life have been sending condolences to the staff and management of the stations.
