PORTLAND WOMAN CHARGED WITH LARCENY, FRAUD
PORT ANTONIO, Portland; March 12, 2025
A cashier who allegedly collected money on behalf of a store owner and used it for her own purposes has been charged by the Portland police.
Charged with larceny as a servant and fraudulent conversion is 23-year-old Jada Lindsay, a cashier of Mount Pleasant, Hope Bay, Portland.
Reports from the Port Antonio Police are that Lindsay, who was an employee at a business establishment in Port Antonio, collected several months of rent money on behalf of the owner from her tenants and took it for herself.
Lindsay admitted to using the money for her own personal expenses when the complainant confronted her about it.
Police said also an audit was conducted at the store, and it was borne out that the money for sales in January 2025 was short by J$88,000. The accused was not given permission to use the funds, and as a result, a report was made to the police.
On Monday, March 10, Lindsay was arrested and later charged following a question-and-answer interview.
Her court date is being finalised.
