CASE student is Miss Portland Festival Queen 2015

portlandCollege student 21-year-old Tiffany Copes, was crowned Miss Portland festival queen 2015, at Port Antonio High School on Saturday, May 16.Copes, a third year student at the College of Agriculture, Science and Education (CASE) was awarded two sectional prizes ‘Most Culturally Aware and ‘Best Berformance’ for her drama piece entitled ‘Jamaica nice eh’.Second runner up Daniek Casey was also awarded two sectional prizes ‘Most Congenial’ and ‘Most Active in the Community’.Tamoya Burke was placed as the 1st runner up.Speaking with North Coast Times after her victory, Copes said “the experience was good as an eye opener for me and it taught me many things, about walk and poise, how to articulate… I appreciate the experience. I’m very elated.”The new Portland queen said her project ‘the parental involvement initiative’ will be on parents placing emphasis on their involvement in their children’s lives to improve the education system.  “I chose this because of knowledge gained from the courses I am doing in teacher education and ways in which intervention can help to improve education.”She gave warning to the other contestants who, like her will be vying for the Miss Jamaica Festival Queen title: “Watch out because Miss Portland is here to take the crown.”
