Case of murder of missionaries fails to advance

The case against two men charged for the murder of two U.S missionaries failed to advance yet again when it came up in court today (August 11).

Dwight Henry, 25, o/c ‘Dougie’ and ‘Chino’, of Wentworth, and Andre Thomas, 25 of Port Maria, both in St Mary are charged with murder. They were again remanded, in the St Mary Parish Court.

The two are charged with the murders of U.S. missionaries Randy Hentzel, 48 and Harold Nichols, 53.

The court was told that Henry and Thomas were still without legal representation. The state is to again contact the Legal Aid Council for a lawyer to be assigned to both men.

Meantime, the case file has been completed and statements are available to allow the judge to determine if the case should go straight to circuit.

The accused men are to return to court September 1.

Randy Hentzel and Harold Nichols of Teams for Medical Missions were found dead in Albion Mountain, near Port Maria on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, respectively.

The two were reportedly last seen alive when they left Tower Isle in the parish on motorcycles about 8:00 am on Saturday, April 30.
