CAR STEALING RING CRACKED IN ST MARY

DOZENS OF STOLEN CARS STOLEN, SCRAPPED

Police have found what they consider a car stealing ring in St Mary.

Police were alerted to the apparent car stealing operation following the theft of a Toyota Axio that was tracked to an area called Comma, near Mango Valley.

Another motorist also reported a Mark X was stolen, at the weekend. Both those vehicles were recovered.

A video that has emerged shows more than two dozen cars in a secluded area under thick shrubs and trees. All of them were scrapped. Initial investigations show that several of the cars were new vehicles.

The most common vehicles found were Axios.

One of the vehicles stolen had a tracker and the owner followed the signals to the area.

Police recovered the vehicle and further investigations revealed a range of cars in the same area. The vehicles were all scrapped.

Police Superintendent in charge of St Mary Bobette Morgan Simpson told a radio station that there were nearly 28 cars at one site and more than a dozen at another. She said it appeared a large operation was being carried out in that space.

The St Mary Police are appealing to persons whose vehicles have been stolen to contact them.
