Accused Murderer, Rapist Held Near Home

Troy Ellis charged in the rape and murder of nine-year-old Taliyah Thompson is back in police custody. The 27- 27-year-old sanitation worker of Discovery Bay, St Ann was held last night, near his home and handed over to police.
Reports are that at about 10:30 a woman who is a licensed firearm holder was driving along the Discovery Bay main road when she saw a man she thought resembled Ellis. She accosted him and took him to the police station
Ellis escaped from the St Ann’s Bay Hospital Saturday night, September 30, a week after the body of the young girl was found in his apartment, Portland Road in Discovery Bay. Two police officers who were supposed to be guarding him have been suspended from frontline duties.
Ellis had been hospitalized after he tried to kill himself following the rape and murder of the nine-year-old girl. She was his step-niece.
His capture came a short while after people in the Discovery Bay community gathered for candlelight ceremonies celebrating the life of Taliyah Thompson.
