SHOCK AS BUSINESSMAN MURDERED IN ST MARY

PORTLAND NATIVE HAD MULTIPLE BUSINESSES ALSO IN OCHI

A businessman with multiple enterprises in St Ann and Portland was shot and killed in Tower Isle, St Mary, on Monday evening, March 24, 2025.

Dead is Samuel Dixon, also called ‘Fraughty’ or ‘Frauty’ of Tower Isle, St Mary. Dixon operated two service stations in Ocho Rios, St Ann — one in the centre of the town and the other near White River. He also owned a car dealership and an auto parts store.

He was a native of Port Antonio, where he owned two gas stations. He had other business interests in Portland.

Reports to the North Coast Times are that about 7:15 Dixon arrived home alone in his motorcar and had entered the yard when men appeared and fired at the vehicle. Dixon exited the vehicle and was running away. He was shot several times. He died on the scene.

The murder has sent shockwaves through the northeast parishes of St Ann, St Mary, and Portland where Dixon was well known.

Two entertainment promoters told the North Coast Times that Dixon was well known for his kindness and often sponsored events or supported them.

One of the colleagues in the retail sector told the North Coast Times “We are in shock this really happen right in Tower Isle.”

A former employee of Dixon who was also an associate was shot multiple times recently. He survived.

 

 

Mayor of St Ann’s Bay Michael Belnavis said he had heard of the shooting but had no details. He said he expected the police to be onto it quickly.
