Enterprising St Ann businessman, Locksley Thompson is dead. Mr Thompson died suddenly last week, Tuesday, August 15. He was 62.
Family members are awaiting an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Mr Thompson, although described by many as “quiet,” and one who refused the limelight, was well known for his generosity.
He was born into a devout Methodist family in Ocho Rios.
His mother Lillette Thompson and father Vincent Thompson were founding members of the Ocho Rios Methodist Church.
They were small business people and operated a laundry on the same location, Main Street, Ocho Rios where Locksley Thompson operated Rainbow Chemicals, that was one shop on a plaza he owned.
Mr Thompson was a past student of York Castle High School, Brown’s Town. Family members remember one of his first signs of entrepreneurship was that he bought bags of sweets and sold them to students at York Castle and used the profit to fund a trip around the Caribbean.
Among the businesses in which he was involved in subsequent years was the popular Footprints Discotechque in Ocho Rios. Footprints was owned by Locksley Aubyn (Zoot) Thompson, Owen (Pottie) Pottinger and John Atkinson
Rainbow Chemicals came much later and has established itself as a low cost efficient provider for a wide range of household chemicals and cleaning products.
He leaves to mourn: spouse Marline Alexander, daughter Lusann Thompson, niece Samantha Thompson and sister Maria Thompson Walters.
