Reports indicate a series of bizarre events leading to one of the brothers being shot and the other held by area residents and handed over to the police, but not before he was injured.

Reports are that a farmer, of Lewis Store, had just returned home after transacting business at a bank when he was accosted by two men. He ran to his house to escape from the men. They chased him. The businessman and his wife secured themselves behind their door as the men tried to break it down.

The businessman fired two rounds from his licensed firearm and the would-be robbers ran.

In their bid to escape the men fired at another elderly businessman who returned the fire, hitting one of them who fell. The other gunman ran. However, he returned to pick up the gun, a 9 mm pistol that had fallen and was surrounded and held.

Police were called and the men were taken into custody. The one who suffered gunshot wounds was taken for treatment.

Both men are from Islington but their names are not being released by the North Coast Time as they have not yet been charged
