Beaches stages health fair for staff

Beaches Ocho Rios Guardians Environmental Club along with the Human Resources Department staged a special “Health, Oneness and Service” fair for team members on Friday, February 10.

Partners included National Housing Trust, CIBC, JMMB, Legal Counsel, for persons wanting to purchasing houses on the open market and needed legal advice, Heritage Trust, Fontana Pharmacy, Guardian Life, Ministry of Health, Child Development Agencies and Family Care Medical Services.

According to the environmental, health and safety manager Suzanna Johnson, the fair was part of resort’s continuing drive to improve the health and wellness of the team member in light of their very busy schedule.

“We have brought the professionals in, since many of our team member, both line staff and managers, would not normally have the time to visit all of these institutions,” Ms Johnson noted. “And from all indications they have found it very convenient and informative.”

The Ministry of Health was a major partner at the event, offering family planning counselling, advice on nutrition as well as mental health.

Ms Johnson said she was pleased that the hotel was able to offer such a wide range of services for the team members,  as well as free medical services including annual check-up and financial and  legal advice.

General manager Brian Roper added “The well-being of our team members is very important to us and as such we try and do whatever it takes to make their working experience as pleasant and fulfilling as possible. The health fair is one of a number of initiatives the hotel undertakers on a monthly basis for the team, so hats off to the organizers.”

The Beaches Ocho Rios Guardian Club is made up of staff members at the resort who are committed to assisting in a number of staff and community related activities, on and off the property.
