BASCOE CHARGED WITH BUGGERY

FUTURE AT SCHOOL UNCLEAR

Errol Bascoe, the principal of Tacky High School, St Mary, has been charged with buggery.

The St Mary police charged Bascoe on Sunday, March 11, after he surrendered to them in the company of his attorneys.

Bascoe resigned, on Friday, March 8, as a caretaker candidate for the PNP in West St Mary after allegations of a sexual nature emerged. He called the allegations “scurrilous and malicious”.

Police later said they were investigating a report filed by a 23-year-old man.

The North Coast Times checked with the Ministry of Education on Saturday, before the charges were laid, about whether Mr Bascoe would be continuing now as Principal at Tacky. He has been principal there for nearly 20 years.

A Ministry official said no action would be taken against Mr Basoce as he had not been charged. She said in any case a decision on whether he would be sent on leave would have to be made by the Board.
