Narburt Hall, one of Montego Bay’s top veteran sound system men is dead. More popularly known as Bansonic and Nari the veteran sound technician who was born in Granville in St James died on Friday June 6, in the Cornwall Regional Hospital, just days shy of his 53rd birthday June 8. With his technician’s expertise he has build several sound systems for promoters in Western Jamaica. Some that come to mind are: Super B, Rock Star, Soul Action, Sound Elegance and Black Music owned by Mutabaruka of Irie FM. He also owned his personal sound system called Bansonic Hi Fi. In the early 90’s he operated a studio in his Granville community, and saw artistes such as the late John Wayne of ‘Call the police’ fame and top reggae crooner Beres Hammond passing through his studio to do dub plates and jingles. His wife of 25 years Marcia said he was a good husband and was loved by many in his community. He also took care of some of his nieces and nephew, playing a father’s role. He died from cancer, leaving two children from a previous relationship.
