A well known medical doctor has delivered a sharp and scathing criticism of some commercial banks and the way they treat people, especially the elderly. He called them scammers.
To nods of approval and favourable comments as he spoke, Dr Horace Betton, a former SMO at St Ann’s Bay Hospital said through his dealings with the banks “I feel scammed”.
Dr Betton lashed the banks for their practices including low interest rate on savings, pushing elderly people to use the technology, charging “unfair” rates and fees. He said some of this was wickedness and likened the effects to scamming.
He laid out a case against the banks, and the way they treat senior citizens, as he spoke at a function honouring organist Karl Fuller for nearly six decades of service. The function honouring Fuller was held Saturday night, June 17 in Runaway Bay, St Ann. Speaking of transactions he had with a bank, he said he felt scammed.
