Grand Bahia Principe, a favorite in the St Ann/St Mary Business House Football competition, ended their Zone B fixtures with a smashing of B&H Inside Holdings Jamaica Ltd. on Sunday. Bahia won 4-1 at the Drax Hall Sports Complex, St Ann, thanks to a hattrick from Travaughn Gallimore
Meantime, the second match of the usual double header was not played and Couples Sans Souci automatically received the three points for victory after Sandals Ochi failed n to show on Sunday, August 21 for their match at Drax Hall. Couples Sans Souci and Couples Tower Isle are now both on 10 points each in Zone A, a match will be played at a later date with both teams to determine the winner of Zone A. Gran Bahia dominated play and ball possession and put in some brilliant tackles, passing and some really fantastic shots towards their rival’s goal.
The first goal of the match came through a penalty kick in the 17th minute, after a B&H player handled in the 6-yard-box. Aldane Johnson #18, made a low, powerful and accurate shot which B&H Inside Holdings Jamaica Ltd. goal keeper, Camall Henry could not get down fast enough to save. This penalty made the match 1-0. The goal seemed to keep Bahia buoyed as they were making better runs and solid defensive team work.B&H players tried their best to pull back a goal as they made several attempts to use the wings of the field but the ball was either cleared or saved by the Bahia’s goal keeper, Rauel Wilson. The first half of the match ended 1-0.
During the half time break, assistant coach for B&H Delroy Hall, talked with his team emphasizing the need for them to function as unit on the field. The Bahia players during their break seemed more relaxed, apparently of the view that they could get more goals from the match.
When the second half commenced, it was a much more intense and heated game. B&H Inside Holdings Jamaica Ltd got their first goal when Bahia’s goal keeper Rauel Wilson went too far away from his goal, which gave Jamar Henry, #7 of B&H, the opportunity to easily slip pass him and smash the ball into the empty net in the 52nd minute.Bahia got back into the game when their star player Travaughn Gallimore scored three goals giving him his hattrick. Gallimore played exceptionally well, scoring in the 56th, 60th and the 74th. All these goals were struck from the 18-yard-box which.B&H’s goal keeper just could not handle.Grand Bahia’s coach Stacey Benjamin was pleased with her team’s performance as they play their final match before the semi-final round.
