ALLEGEDLY STABBED FORMER GIRLFRIEND 22 TIMES

A man who reportedly stabbed his former girlfriend 22 times after she refused his advances to resume their relationship was granted bail in court last week. The man, named late last year among St Ann’s most wanted, 43-year-old Luke Cross, was granted bail when he appeared in the St Ann RM court on Thursday, January 23.He faces a charge of wounding with intent. Cross is accused of stabbing his former girlfriend some 22 times, in  December 2011 in Windsor, St Ann.He was offered bail in the sum of $350,000 and ordered not to return to the community of Windsor in St Ann’s Bay, St Ann. He is also to report to the Balaclava police in St Elizabeth on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, between 6 am and 8 pm.  He is now residing in that parish.Cross has reportedly been residing in St Elizabeth and turned himself in to the Balaclava police on December 12 last year, after being named as one of St Ann’s most wanted.It is reported that after Cross and the woman were together for a year, the complainant reportedly ended the relationship with Cross in September 2011.On the night of December 8, 2011, the complaint alleges that she came home to find Cross in her yard. She said he begged him to resume the relationship and she repeatedly refused while they were sitting in her room. According to the allegations, Cross  jumped on her and began repeatedly stabbing her with a knife. He also pushed the knife into her mouth and cut away the side of her mouth.The attacks reportedly continued after she fled the house and he held her and continued stabbing her, infront of her two children who had been awakened by her screams.The allegations before the court are that she was hospitalized for a week with wounds to her back  face and stomach and that one of her lungs was punctured. She has had to do surgery but her back, upper body and face remain severely scarred.Cross is being represented by Oswest Senior-Smith. The attorney told the court that Cross did not know he was wanted by the police and further that it was the woman who attacked him, inflicting seven stab wounds with a knife she had. He is on bail.
