Police have seized an AK 47 assault rifle and arrested several people during a raid in Steer Town, St Ann.
The police raided a section of Hollywood in Steer Town, near Mammee Bay and seized the rifle plus a quantity of ganja. Thirteen people were arrested, two of them in connection with the rifle.
Head of St Ann police, Supt Gary Francis told the North Coast Times that the pre-dawn operation Friday (Feb 3) was all part of the police’s effort to push back crime and to create safe communities. “I want to reassure the people of St Ann that we are doing everything to make their lives peaceful and we need their support and cooperation” he said.
