The mother of a St Ann teacher, who disappeared without a trace more than a year ago, has died of what friends and neighbours say is a broken heart.
Sheryl Williams who is believed to be in her late 50s died Wednesday, October 19.
Mrs Williams is the mother of Ruchelle Williams a teacher who disappeared in mid-September 2021.
Ruchelle Williams who taught Mathematics at Marcus Garvey Technical High School, St Ann’s Bay went missing from her home, in Goshen near Brown’s Town one evening after returning from school. All her personal belongings were left at home.
Various efforts to locate her failed. The searches included community people, teachers, and, even officials of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, assisting the police.
People close to the family say Mrs Williams has not been the same since her only child went missing. She has had several spells of depression and sought medical attention for stress-related ailments. She had even stopped practicing her vocation as a dressmaker as she worried about her daughter.
Ruchelle Williams has still not been located.
