2 Killings Within Minutes Of Each Other
Fear has gripped the community of Priory in St Ann following three murders in less than 24 hours.
Two men were shot and killed in separate incidents within minutes of each other Saturday night, September 30 in Priory, and another reportedly murdered Sunday night, October 1.
Dead are: 38-year-old Vincent Antonio Duffus o/c Tyrone Duff, labourer, and 40-year-old Jose Grant also called “Rooster”, electrician, both of Sea View Heights, Priory. The details of the third murder were not confirmed to The North Coast Times at the time of filing this report.
The first murder took place about 11:35 on Saturday, September 30 at Sea View Heights, in Priory. Reports are that Duffus was alone at a shop he operated at his home when he was pounced upon by two masked men who were armed with guns. They proceeded to rob him of his cell phone. The men then fired shots hitting him in his upper body and head. Neighbours summoned the police who found Duffus lying face down in a pool of blood. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
The second incident took place minutes later, in the same community of Seaview Heights, and Grant was a victim.
Reports are that about 11:45 p.m., residents heard several loud explosions and summoned the police.
On arrival police noticed that a door to Grant’s house had been kicked open and the house ransacked. A trail of blood led police officers to a gully about 70 metres away where the body of Grant was found lying face down.
The body appeared to have gunshot wounds. Grant was pronounced dead at the nearby St Ann’s Bay Hospital
