Portland Boy Had Machete
A 12-year-old boy from Hope Bay in Portland has been charged with wounding with intent after he allegedly stabbed a 13-year-old girl in his community on Wednesday, August 16.
Reports from the Hope Bay Police are that about 11:00 a.m., the boy attacked a 13-year-old girl with a machete; an adult intervened and disarmed the boy.
The boy then went to retrieve a knife, which he used to stab the girl in her back. The police were summoned and the teenage girl was taken to hospital, where she was treated.
The boy was arrested and subsequently charged. His court date is being arranged.
