St Ann Man Charged For Attempting To Bribe Cops With $720,000

A St Ann man has been charged with attempting to bribe the police after he was found with more than $700,000 for which he couldn’t account, and what appeared to be lotto scamming information.

Charged is 24-year-old Yowan Soares, an electrician of Great Pond, Ocho Rios, St. Ann. Soares has been charged with possession of information with intent and attempted bribery, during an operation on Friday, May 19.

Reports are that between 4:00 am and 8:30 am, Friday, a joint operation was conducted in the Great Pond district where a premises was searched. During the search $720,000 Jamaican Dollars was found, for which Soares couldn’t properly account.

Police say in addition to this, an onsite analysis of his phone was done and names, social security and telephone numbers of persons living overseas was discovered.

They said during the process he offered to bribe a member of the team the sum of money [$720,000] that was found. He was arrested and charged. He is set to appear in court on Thursday, July 6 .
