Police are mourning the death of one of their own in a traffic crash, in St Mary
Dead is 29-year-old Adrian Pedley, who was assigned to the Oracabessa Station, in the St. Mary Division.
In a release issued by the Police’s Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), Cons Pedley’s age was wrongly stated as 40. Responses to our story on this website and to the North Coast Times Facebook post caused the newspaper to check the CCU’s report. Also, it has been established that although the crash took place Saturday, April 8, Constable Pedley did not die that day. In fact, he appeared to have made progress during his treatment and died Monday. His death shocked many.
What follows is a section of the CCU report: “Reports from the Oracabessa Police are that Constable Pedley was travelling on a service motorcycle along the Galina main road heading towards Port Maria when the motorcycle collided with a Toyota Senta motorcar. He was taken to hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
“The driver of the Toyota Senta was warned for prosecution.
“The Police High Command, in a release, expressed condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Constable Pedley.
“The Constabulary’s Chaplaincy Branch and Welfare Department are providing support to the family members, friends and colleagues of Constable Adrian Pedley. ”
