MP for West St Mary Robert ‘Bobby’ Montague says he expects some big shots to come after him because of recent statements he has made in defence of the people in his constituency.
The MP was speaking in the State of the Nation Debate in Parliament on Wednesday, September 14.
Mr Montague has been recently making statements considered more likely to be coming from Opposition members. Mr Montague was up to a few months ago Minister of Transport and Mining and says he now has more time on his hands and is defending the people of his constituency.
Recently he took a strong position against crime saying the country must get hanging going again.
This week he lashed out at the commercial banks saying they were not providing proper service, including working ATMs that should be in a covered space. He also knocked them over fees and the designation of some accounts as “dormant”.
Speaking on Wednesday, he said Government should increase the Community Development Fund, allowing MP’s to provide more for their constituencies. He said MPs and Ministers should also be paid more.
Mr Montague said he expects the “Philistines” and powerful and influential people to set up and come after him but he was defending his constituency.
