Trelawny teens face court on Gun charge.

“A pervasive problem, guns brought to school by students pose great risk to our children”

Formal proceedings have begun in the case of the three teenagers
who were arrested in connection with the seizure of an illegal
firearm on Lower Harbour Street in Falmouth, Trelawny on Monday,
August 29.
Three teenagers arrested for possession of a gun appeared in the
Family Court in Falmouth on Thursday, September 1.
The teens—two 16 year olds and a 14 year old—cannot be named as
they are minors.
Reports are that the teens were handed over to the police by a
private security team, about 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 29. The
security team was responding to an alarm in Falmouth. They
approached the teens who were seen walking along Lower harbur
Street in the Trelawny capital, acting in a manner that aroused
suspicion.
The teens were accosted and searched and one Browning pistol with
an empty magazine was found inside a knapsack bag that they were
carrying. The firearm was seized and the police alerted.

They were charged following an interview in the presence of their
attorneys. They were each charged with the offence of Illegal
possession of a firearm.
