Case of murder of St Mary musician traversed to July circuit

The murder case of a St Mary musician has been traversed again to be mentioned on July 13.

This after the attorney for one of three accused men in the matter asked for disclosure in the case as she is new in the matter.

The case was brought before the St Mary Circuit Court on Thursday, March 23.

The murder case involves a police constable and two civilians, who are charged in connection to the shooting death of 25-year-old musician, Anthony Hudson.

The men charged with murder are: Constable Fabian Henry, assigned to the St. Catherine North Division; mechanic, Neville Anderson and his father, Franklyn Anderson, a mason of Esher in St. Mary.

The matter was stood down at least twice when it was brought before the courts as one of the accused men, Franklyn Anderson was delayed in his journey travelling from St Elizabeth. He was to reside in that parish as a condition of his bail.

When all three accused men finally appeared before the court, the matter was traversed for the next sitting of the circuit in July.

The new attorney representing Cons Henry has requested disclosure in the case as she had no documents in the matter. Disclosure is to be made to her before the next court date.

Franklyn and Neville Anderson are represented by attorney Linval Cummings.

Justice Sarah Thompson-James set the matter to be mentioned on July 13.

The bails of Franklyn Anderson and Fabian Henry were extended.

However, Neville Anderson was further remanded into custody.

At the preliminary enquiry hearing last year, before the St Mary Parish Court (then Port Maria Resident Magistrate Court), it was revealed that Anthony Hudson, who is from Zion Hill district in Richmond, St Mary, was shot and killed on January 25, 2014. He was shot sometime after 9 a.m. in Esher district, Highgate in the parish. This was said to be over an illegal gun that he had not been able to account for.

THREE CHARGED

Hudson was reported missing shortly after.

However, police investigators charged Cons Fabian Henry, Neville and Franklyn Anderson prior to the body of Hudson being found, based on certain evidence. A fourth man, only referred to as ‘DJ’– who was alleged to be present at the time of the murder —  has not been located.

Hudson’s decomposing body was found in a gully about 100 yards behind the house of the father and son (Franklyn and Neville Anderson) on Tuesday, March 25, a day prior to the three accused men’s first court appearance.

The preliminary examination hearing in the case started in late August of 2015 and was completed later that year.

The matter was transferred to the Michaelmas session of the circuit court in November of 2015.
