Jamaican born, world renowned chef, writer and entrepreneur Levi Roots, along with mayor of St Ann’s Bay Michael Belnavis, and some guests and officials from the Sandals Hotel Jamaica, on Saturday, January 22, toured the Ocho Rios Market. This group was also joined by other councillors and officers of the St. Ann Municipal Corporation. During his tour of the market, Chef Roots introduced the visitors to several locally grown foods including ‘cho-cho’, ‘dasheen’, mango, ‘roots’ and scotch bonnet peppers. The tourists were enthusiastic about trying these items, even the ‘very hot’ peppers. A number of goods were purchased from these market vendors, some of whom were excited to see Chef Roots back home. In photograph Chef Roots and his team samples non-alcoholic, homemade ‘roots’.
