Two men were killed on their way to a wake in the Shrewsbury community of Portland on Sunday, November 13.
Those killed are 29-year-old vendor Kentoy Myers of Shrewsbury district and Garfield Foster of Buff Bay, both in Portland.
The double murder has sent the parish’s murder rate to 12 since the start of the year. Portland recorded eight murders last year.
Reports from the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) are that at about 3:20 a.m., Myers and Foster were going to a wake in the community after returning from a dance, when gunmen alighted from a vehicle and opened fire hitting them multiple times.
The men died on the scene.
Residents later discovered the bodies of the men and summoned the police.
In the meantime, the police have theorized that Myers was killed in an act of reprisal.
The Portland police are continuing their investigations.
