KING FA — ST ANN FOOTBALL CHAMPS AGAIN

RICHMOND FC FIGHT GALLANTLY BUT KING STAGE BRILLIANT COMEBACK TO  KEEP ST ANN MAJOR LEAGUE TITLE

DRAX HALL, ST ANN; June 1, 2026

For much of the St Ann Major League final match Sunday, May 31, 2026, Richmond FC must have thought they had both hands on the trophy, only to have it snatched away by Defending Champions King Football Academy (FA).

Final score: King FA 3. Richmond 2. King will receive at least $400,000 in prize money.

The playoff for third place did not take place as Madras FC did not show with enough men for the game and Content United were declared third-place winners.

King FA were down for most of the game, and not until the 80th minute, when they levelled the score at 2-2, did it seem that Richmond’s grip on the trophy was not so firm after all.

For the first 25 minutes, Richmond were running all over King. In fact,  Romaine Thompson gave Richmond the lead in the eighth minute, and they doubled their lead in the 17th  minute through a peach of a free kick from Kirk Ramsay. The half ended 2-0 to Richmond’s advantage.

King were given life by Dario James with a strike just two minutes after the resumption. But resolute defending and counter-attacking play by Richmond held them up to the 80th min when talisman Kaniel ‘Bomber’ Brown produced another exquisite free kick on the night to draw level at 2-2. When most were now anticipating extra time and perhaps even penalties to decide the championship, it was Daniel Reid in the 90+7 who scored the clincher and broke the hearts of Richmond to lift the trophy for King FA and the title of Major League champion.
